Adult Literacy
This program aims to help immigrants, refugees, and other adults interested in learning. The program is offered to adults with little or no formal education to those with advanced degrees in their native languages. The goal is to ensure they can communicate easily during their daily activities and participate in the community and workforce.
The program focuses on the following:
- English as a Second Language (ESL): This program focuses on teaching non-native English speakers basic and intermediate English language skills.
- Adult Basic Education (ABE): This program teaches native English or English-fluent speakers how to read, write, oral communication, and math.
- Cultural literacy: Familiarity with the background knowledge of American culture and connects new immigrant learners with local resources, thereby facilitating integration and cultural understanding.
